Meet the people who run Tokyo

For running brands, run stations, shops, hotels and tours. Run Tokyo is a free field guide for everyone who runs in Tokyo: residents on the palace loop before work, the clubs that meet every week, and the visitors who fly in for a race. It is read in nine languages, Japanese included. We keep it clean, and we take a very small number of partners who make running here better.

One guide, two kinds of runner

Tokyo’s own runners read it all year. Visitors read it before a race. Most of what a brand sells, both of them need.

Tokyo’s runners, all year

One adult in ten in Tokyo’s 23 wards ran at least once in 2024, the highest share of any kind of city in Japan. Residents and clubs use the guide all year: a new loop, the heat index in summer, kit for each season, shops, clubs and the race calendar, in Japanese or in their own language.

Runners flying in

The Tokyo Marathon on 7 March 2027 has a field of 40,000, and one independent analysis puts the share from abroad in 2026 near 46%. They plan their whole week with the guide: where to run, the EXPO, kit, food and a place to stay.

Bookings we send

For running tours, coaching and stays. A link marked PR where a runner would look for you anyway, paid only for completed bookings. We count bookings, never who made them.

Per bookinga commission we agree together

Run clubs: we list clubs on merit and for free. A club that wants to work with a brand through the guide is welcome to write.

Quiet, labelled and useful

A partner appears as one line in the guide’s own type, inside the place it belongs to. No banners, no pop-ups, no third-party scripts. Readers trust the guide because every fact has a source, so the offer gets read.

The guide stays the guide

What we promise readers, and you.

  • Picks are never for sale.No place joins the guide, moves up or stays in it because it pays. Partners add an offer, never a listing.
  • Every paid line is labelled.PR in English and 広告 in Japanese, as Japan’s rules on undisclosed advertising require since October 2023.
  • One partner per place. One partner per season, one for race week, and at most one perk per card. A placement is never shared.
  • No tracking of readers. No ad networks, tracking pixels or cookies. We report clicks and bookings as totals, never who made them.
  • Our voice, your approval. We write the line so it reads like the rest of the guide. You approve it before it goes live.
  • Facts stay sourced.Any claim in an offer needs a source we can link, the same rule as every other line in the guide.
